Lost Super
According to the ATO, there is currently a staggering $17.8 billion in lost super!
Could any of it belong to you? Wouldn’t it be a pleasant surprise to discover even a small sum is actually yours; it may make a big difference to your retirement balance!
It only takes a moment and it’s certainly worth a check if you have ever changed your name, changed your address, or even your job; it’s possible you might have super in a few accounts you’ve lost track of.
Where do you look?
Lost super or unclaimed super is either with the ATO or still with your super fund.
How do I track down lost super?
Search for lost super online using myGov, phoning the lost super search line, or by completing a paper form, or by using third party requests. You can also ask your super fund to conduct a search for you.

You will need a myGov account linked to the ATO, once you link your myGov account, you can also use the ATO app.

Phone the super search line on 13 28 65.
Be prepared to provide your personal details such as your tax file number, contact details, super fund details and previous employment details - Completing a paper form

If you think you do have lost super but can’t see it on the ATO online, it could be they don’t have all your details. Contact your super fund and check your membership number, the amount of lost super and when the super fund may have transferred it.
It’s important to keep track of your super, especially when changing employers.
